TSB appoints new general counsel from GE
TSB announces today the appointment of Lorna Curry as General Counsel of TSB Bank plc.
Lorna’s appointment follows the announcement by Susan Crichton, TSB’s current General Counsel, that she intends to retire at the end of January 2018.
Paul Pester, Chief Executive Officer at TSB, says: “Susan has been with TSB for four years and has made a huge contribution to many key milestones in TSB’s journey, such as the IPO in 2014, sale to Sabadell in 2015 and the current migration to our new IT banking platform.
“On a personal note, I would like to thank Susan for all her hard work, professionalism and commitment to TSB. She has been a valued and trusted member of the Leadership team and I wish her well in retirement.”
On announcing her retirement, Susan Crichton said: “I have had a very enjoyable career with TSB and packed so much into my time here. However, it has always been my plan to retire this year and I am really looking forward to the next chapter in my life. I have worked with some great people in TSB and I am going to miss them all.”
Lorna Curry’s legal career spans over 25 years, mainly at the multinational conglomerate company GE, but also at Barclays Capital and international law firm Denton Wilde Sapte.
Lorna joins TSB from GE Renewable Energy in Paris, where she was General Counsel, Hydro, responsible for legal advice and risk management across GE Hydro’s global projects. Prior to her current role, Lorna spent six years as General Counsel and Company Secretary for GE Capital Bank Limited with responsibility for legal, regulatory and governance advice across GE Capital’s UK banking and commercial financing businesses.
Based in London, Lorna starts her new role in January 2018, reporting into Ralph Coates, Chief Financial Officer. She will attend the Bank’s Executive Committee and will be responsible for providing legal advice to the Board and CEO on the Bank’s strategy. Lorna will manage the legal function comprising four teams: commercial, corporate, products and company secretariat.
On the appointment of Lorna, TSB Chief Financial Officer Ralph Coates says: “I am delighted to welcome Lorna at a significant time for TSB, as we continue to prepare for the migration to our new, state-of-the-art IT platform and we look to expand into the small business banking market.
“With her wealth of experience, skill and industry knowhow, Lorna will be invaluable in guiding senior management through this next chapter for TSB.”
