Welcome to the Do What Matters Plan

As the world’s first savings bank, our history is rooted in social good. Today, as it was then, TSB is committed to its wider role in society and to help communities thrive.

This means creating social, environmental, and economic value, by doing what matters for our customers, the businesses we work with, our colleagues, local communities, and the environment.

The Do What Matters Plan brings together our social and environmental ambitions and calls out the actions we’re taking to build on our credentials as a responsible business.

Doing what matters for customers

We want to help our customers be more money confident. For example, managing finances, improving digital banking skills, accessing cash and banking services online and in branches, as well as setting the highest standards for tackling fraud.

Doing what matters for businesses

We focus on treating businesses fairly and helping them grow. We pay our suppliers promptly, provide access to business support and advice to our customers, and encourage diversity and responsible business practices with both suppliers and customers.

Doing what matters for colleagues

We’re working hard to make sure TSB is an inclusive organisation where everyone can feel welcome as they are, with access to equal opportunities.

Doing what matters for communities

We work with local communities, donating our time and money to vital local projects, helping the people who need it most.

Doing what matters for the environment

We’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment while helping customers and colleagues do the same.

Our commitment to good responsible business behaviour

We want to make sure our responsible business plan starts from a sturdy foundation of responsible business behaviours and adds up to something bigger by aligning to national and international standards.

This includes having good governance, with senior accountability; being trusted by our employees to do the right thing; developing a plan with input from our stakeholders; and being transparent with our data and the progress we’re making. That’s why we work in partnership with a range of expert organisations to make sure our actions meet independent standards and commitments.

We are proud to be the first and only retail bank accredited by the Good Business Charter, a national accreditation scheme that recognises businesses that behave responsibly.

TSB is committed to the UN Global Compact corporate responsibility initiative, a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals.
